Burn Scars is a collection of creative nonfiction essays that push against the hardscape and how to live with the burn scars left behind by the California wildfires–both physically and emotionally.
The thematic motifs of the essays include being a caregiver, loss, survivor’s guilt, and grief, while living a dual existence near the southern Yosemite National Park and Monterey Bay, California–amongst the backdrop of a pandemic and wildfire evacuations.
